Joan Edmonds, resident of both Rocky Hill and Newington, passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2023.
Joan was retired from Aetna as an HR Benefits Specialist. Letters of praise for her compassionate and caring ways were found in her memorabilia. Her benefits knowledge was exemplary.
This past year, Joan found enjoyment in volunteering at The Giving Garden at the Newington Senior Center and was looking forward to the upcoming gardening season. She was a nature lover and was always thrilled by the appearance of wildlife, especially deer, in her backyard.
Like a true Sagittarian, Joan had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and enjoyed researching and playing brain games on her beloved iPad. She was an avid music lover although nothing tickled her more than a classic Disney film. Joan loved a “lumberjack” breakfast and a “good burger” but most of all she loved her family and was fiercely loyal.
Left to mourn her passing are her brother Brian Hinton of So. Glens Falls, NY; sisters Sally (Jack) Callahan of Myrtle Beach, SC and Janne (Mark) Gauthier of Farmington, CT; brother-in-law Robert Lizotte of Newington, CT; 4 nephews, 7 nieces, 2 great nephews and 6 great nieces. Joan was predeceased by her parents Lucille and Edward, her sisters Nanne Lizotte and Susan (Dan) Balistierri and her sister-in-law Betty Hinton.
Honoring her wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Joan's family for their trust.
