Joan C. Albert, 66, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Civita Care Center at Newington after a brief, courageous battle with breast cancer.
Joan was born on December 28, 1956 in Southington, CT daughter of the late Jean and Yvette (Bouchard) Albert. Outgoing and adventurous, Joan loved being with people. She was a trailblazer- first in the family to fly and first to graduate college. Her interests were wide-ranging – she loved music, dancing and spending time in nature. She truly enjoyed dancing with her friends at various events, never skipping a beat. Joan was a proud member of the Mountain Laurel Ski Club in Ludlow, VT and was active with the social events and activities at the Lodge. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, especially her adored grandchildren, with whom she spent “Gigi Saturday’s” cherishing every second of every moment. She was a loving and generous person, whose joyful laughter will echo in all of our hearts. She will be missed dearly.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Satalino and her husband, Matthew; her adored grandchildren, Ellie and Leo Satalino; her sister, Theresa Nadolny and her husband, Richard; her brother, Charles Albert and his wife, Kara; her brother, John Albert and his wife, Camille; her sister, Michelle Elsasser and her husband, Jamie. Joan had a very large extended family -- simply too many to list here. But we would be remiss if we didn't say thank you to Maryanne Miller and her husband, Scott and Diane Witik, who helped Joan in her final months. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Colleen Barry and her wife, Katie Smith, Ray Barry and his partner, Amanda Masters, Ryan Albert, Bowden Albert, Max Elsasser, as well as her great nieces and nephews, Evan Barry and Albert Smith. She is now reunited with her parents and her best friend of many years, Kathleen O’Brien.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville on Thursday, August 31 from 4 to 7 PM. A service in celebration of Joan’s life led by life celebrant Jesse Gnazzo will begin at 6:30 PM. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, 54 S.
