Jennie (Rondinone) Bucchi, 95 of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, and was reunited with the love of her life, John on what would have been their 74th wedding anniversary.
A depression era baby, Jennie was born in Hartford on May 21, 1929 to the late Rocco and Josephine (DiGiglio) Rondinone. One of the survivors of the 1944 Barnum & Bailey Circus fire, Jennie’s family settled in East Hartford where she was raised and educated, graduating from East Hartford High School in 1947. It was love at first sight when she met John on a blind date in 1948. He proposed on their third date, and they were married fourteen months later, going on to share the next 47 years full of love, laughter and life adventures before his passing in 1997.
Jennie held a successful career in the insurance profession for over 30 years. She and John spent their retirement years traveling both domestically and globally, and Jennie co-chaired the East Hartford and Florida reunions held in Venice, Florida for over 10 years. A talented cake decorator, she enjoyed making wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes and she was a skilled quilter, earning many ribbons for her creations. She was a proud breast cancer survivor, and was a member of the Plainville and Newington Senior Centers.
She is survived by three sons, Jack (Karen), twin sons Ron (Susan) and Rick (Ann); and four grandchildren, Paul Bucchi, Kara (Glenn) Formica, Jeremy (Tara) Bucchi and Kyle(Kelsey) Bucchi as well as six great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Jack Formica, Blake, Cole, Evangeline and Isabella Bucchi. She also leaves her brother Frank (Marilyn) Rondinone of East Hartford and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and James Rondinone, two sisters, Nicolina Carola and Angelina Sinnott.
