Jeffrey Hatch Obituary

Jeffrey Allan “Jeff” Hatch, 62, longtime resident of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. He was the devoted fiancé to Hope Gawel, of Plainville. Together they spent almost 20 loving years together.

Jeff was born on December 11, 1958, at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, son to the late Bernard Leslie and Barbara Jean (Swan) Hatch. At a young age, Jeff enlisted in the U.S. Army where he continued his education and earned his high school diploma. He worked for Companion Industries for many years as a set-up, press operator. Jeff was a very hands-on man who was able to fix anything. He was a jack of all trades and found enjoyment in tinkering with anything he set his mind on. Jeff was a humorous, humble guy who lived life with an easy-going personality. Jeff lived each day to the fullest recognizing and accepting the reality of each situation. An “All-American” guy, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Above all, Jeff loved to spend quality time with his fiancé, Hope, and making many lasting memories together. He will be missed by all that knew him and will always be remembered for his witty character.

In addition to Hope, Jeff is survived by his two children, Jessica L. and Trevor N. Hatch; his two step-children, Jasmine and Nicholas Gawel; his step-father, Richard Eighmie; his brothers, Danny Frost, Alan, Dickie, Bobby Eighmie, and Joe Hatch; and his sisters, Ann Moyer and Barbara Pillard. Jeff also leaves behind his very good friends, who were more like family to him, Mike Kelly and his wife, Simone, his press room prodigy, Austin Zalot, whom he was extremely proud to teach, and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard Hatch, his brother, Gary Frost, and his niece, Sandi Eighmie.

Family and friends are able to gather in celebration of Jeff’s life on Friday, August 13 from 6 to 8 PM at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. Burial will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 11 AM at West Cemetery, 180 N. Washington Street, Plainville.
