James P. Baylock, beloved husband, father, and proud veteran, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 7, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on May 19, 1949, Jim was one of three children to the late George P. and Bernice (Adams) Baylock. Raised and educated in New Britain, Jim devoted his life to his family and his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps just days after his 18th birthday, serving nobly during the Vietnam War. His time in the Marines shaped him into a resilient and determined man, and he carried his pride for the Corps with him every day. A man of hard work ethics, he dedicated an impressive 39 years at Jarvis Products in the manufacturing industry.
Jim was married to his devoted wife, Anne (Carlson) Baylock, for 54 wonderful years, all of which he was spoiled with her delicious home cooked meals and baked treats. Together, they raised a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories of family cook outs and intense yard game competitions. An outdoors enthusiast, Jim loved hunting and had a special fondness for classic cars, particularly the iconic 1965 GTO. An avid bowler in his younger years, he later enjoyed watching westerns, and listening to music from the 60s, with a particular liking for Motown, which often served as the soundtrack to many family gatherings. His spirit will live on, carrying the warmth of his love and the strength of his character into all our hearts.
In addition to his wife Anne, he leaves his son, James Baylock; his daughter Lori Tomkiewicz and her husband Robert; and his grandchildren, Taylor McGinley, and Brooke and Jake Tomkiewicz. He also leaves his sister, Debi Thomas and her husband Mark, his brother George Baylock and his wife Jane; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
