Greg G. "Porker" Poitras, 61 of Pequabuck, formerly of Bristol, was taken from this earthly life too soon on Friday, September 20, 2024, following complications from a motorcycle accident.
Born in Hartford on October 22, 1962, he was one of three children to the late Roland and Janine (Madore) Poitras, and was raised and educated in Bristol, graduating from Bristol Central High School in 1981. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force, embodying a strong sense of patriotism throughout his life. Greg dedicated over 25 years of loyal service to Yarde Metals, where he wore many hats and held his job in high regard. An avid lover of the outdoors, Greg found solace in the sun, and his passion for activities like fishing, hiking, and mountain biking brought him immense joy. His prized possession, his Harley, was a source of endless adventures. Music was a significant part of Greg's life, and he found joy in listening to his favorite classic rock tunes. He had a deep affection for animals, often spending his spare time watching Animal Planet and National Geographic shows with his adored feline companions by his side. Greg's infectious personality lit up every room he entered, and he made countless friends with his warm and welcoming nature. May he rest peacefully, leaving a legacy of kindness and love for his family and friends, all who will miss him beyond words.
He is survived by his children, Paige Poitras and her husband Luis Ormaechea, Ashley Poitras and her fiancé Salvatore Sutera, Jr. and Ian Poitras; his grandsons, Landon and Sawyer; and his brother Jeff Poitras, his wife Diane and their children, Michael and Nicole. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Erin and his brother Mark.
