Gilman Guimond, devoted Husband, Father and Pepere, left this earthly life peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday January 18, 2024.
Born on November 7, 1950, in Edmundston, NB, Canada, the only son of Paul and Viola Guimond, Gill lived a life that was fueled by his passions and defined by his loyalty, hard work ethics and remarkable skill.
Gill cherished the great outdoors and embraced every opportunity to immerse himself in its beauty. Whether it was setting out on a drive in his ’65 Mustang, going hunting, fishing or simply working around the yard, he found solace and joy in the natural world around him. Known for his remarkable skill and knack for fixing things, Gill’s talent for mechanical work was unparalleled. Automobiles and engines were not merely objects to him; they were a source of fascination and he shared this dedication and commitment to his craft with all who called him for help and advice, which was many! He thrived on challenges, never shying away from difficult tasks, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors in need. He was a problem solver, with a profound empathy for the underdog, whose storytelling skills were legendary and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of over 50 years, Diane (Savaria) Guimond; his daughter, Brandi Kay and her husband John; and his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Rhianna and Paige Miller and Shaelyn and Chase Kay; along with his large extended family and wide circle of friends. Gill’s role as a husband, father and pepere was what he cherished most. He poured his heart and soul into his family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, Gill may be remembered with contributions to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America at www.lcfamerica.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
