Gail (Clark) Adams, 87, of Farmington, formerly of Plainville and Southington, passed away peacefully at her home on September 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late LeRoy F. Adams.
She was born in Bristol on August 2, 1938 to the late Saunders and Alma Clark. Gail met LeRoy while they were students at Salem Washington Academy in Salem, New York. After attending college for a time, she decided that getting married and starting a family was most important to her. Gail and LeRoy married and shared nearly 50 years of loving marriage until LeRoy’s passing in 2008. She was also predeceased by her brother, David Clark, and her cousin, Janice Scott of Southington, with whom she shared a special lifelong friendship.
Gail’s strong faith in God and love of family were always of the highest importance to her. She and LeRoy were both avid campers and it was a central part of their life. In 1975 they founded the National United Methodist Camping Club, celebrating their love of faith, family, and the great outdoors. They enjoyed camping and traveled frequently in their motorhome - especially enjoying snow birding in Florida, vacationing in Maine and monthly campouts in CT with their friends in the club. Gail and LeRoy were longtime, devoted members of the Plainville United Methodist Church since 1972. There is a stone marker on the church grounds identifying the location of the club’s founding. Gail even worked as an administrative secretary at the church while raising their children, serving her faith community not just through worship but also through her daily work. In addition to her church role, Gail was employed in administrative secretarial roles with various businesses over the years, retiring from Cigna.
Gail enjoyed keeping a well maintained and organized home and tending her flower gardens. She had many hobbies and interests throughout her life and loved working on puzzles, whether it was crossword puzzles, word finds, or a game of dominos, cards or bingo with friends and family. Gail also generously volunteered for many years at the Plainville Senior Center, finding fulfillment in helping others and staying active in the community. She never lost her enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures — she especially savored seafood, dark chocolate, and her favorite sherbet ice cream.
Above all, Gail was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children: Wayne Adams and his wife Sheryl of Plainville; Mary Ann Adams of Plainville; and Jeff Adams and his wife Daphne of Manchester. She also leaves eight cherished grandchildren: Ashley Sadler (Sean) Katherine Adams; Jonathan Adams (Kayla); Austin, Brian, and Carter Poetzsch; Tyler Adams (Nikki) and Jason Adams (Brooke). In addition, Gail was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Henry and Charlotte Sadler, Hunter Rodgers, Kennedy Adams, Liam Adams, and Walter and Warren Adams. Her family will forever cherish her warmth, her unwavering faith, and the countless happy memories they shared.
Gail may be remembered with contributions to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087 or at http://www.umcmission.org
