Frederick Kennedy Obituary

Frederick C. “Fred” Kennedy, of Plainville, passed away on September 14, 2021.  Fred was born on August 29, 1931, in Everett, MA, to the late John and Mary (Doherty) Kennedy. He was predeceased by his wife Marian (Martin) Kennedy. He was the youngest of 9 children.  It's an end of an era, a closing to the Greatest Generation with The Kennedy clan now all together.

Fred was proud of the home he built in Avon where he and his wife raised their family and made many lasting memories for over 35 years prior to settling in Plainville. He worked as an engineer at Pratt and Whitney for several years before beginning a long and successful real estate career. He had a gentle spirit and appreciated all the beauty that nature had to offer - either by tending to his gardens, feeding the birds or spending time by the ocean.  He was dedicated to staying fit and remaining healthy, spending hours exercising and talking with his friends at the YMCA. Fred was an avid Boston fan and loved to watch his Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots.  He enjoyed the many years he served at the senior center cafe as chief panini maker. He loved to talk and socialize, and he joined the “Snappy Seniors” a photography group with his local senior center.  He learned how to paint and had many of his paintings on display at local art shows. He will be missed immensely by his family and friends leaving them with many cherished memories and smiles.

Fred is survived by his three daughters, Karen Cruz and her husband, Albert of FL, Ann O’Donal and her husband, Mark of RI and Katie Tessman and her husband, John of Terryville; along with grandchildren Ryan and Nicole Tessman, Sean and Heather O’Donal, and Savannah and Olivia Lavoie; and several nieces and nephews.  Fred also leaves his longtime partner of 26 years, Diane Durette of Plainville, who he lovingly called his angel.
