Fernando Di Lernia Obituary

Fernando Di Lernia, devoted husband, father and grandfather, 73, of Plainville, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Hartford Hospital following a brief battle with leukemia. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Hebert) Di Lernia, with whom he shared 52 blissful years of marriage.
Fernando was born on June 25, 1952 in Avezzano, Italy, son to the late Savino and Nunzia (Scoccimarro) Di Lernia and was deeply proud of his Italian roots. Throughout his life, he remained loyal to his heritage, often returning to Italy alongside his brother, Nicholas, to soak in the rich culture, savor the cuisine, and embrace the beauty of the land. These visits were not just vacations, but affirmations of a life filled with appreciation for family, tradition, and love.
Fernando will be remembered as the go-to guy to call for help with fixing things, a skill he honed throughout his life—from his beginnings in construction to his esteemed 38-year career as the shop leader with Stanley Access Technology. His knack for being able to build, fix, and solve problems, in addition to his willingness to lend a helping hand, endeared him to friends and family alike.
Beyond his professional life, Fernando had a rich array of hobbies that filled his days with joy. He enjoyed the freedom of cycling, the creativity of painting on canvas, and a deep love for cars, particularly his cherished 1973 Ford Capri, which served as a symbol of his passion and artistry.
Fernando was a special person whose love for his family resonated in all he did. In addition to his wife, Linda Di Lernia, Fernando is survived by his daughter, Lori Levesque and her husband, Kenneth, his son, Brennan Di Lernia, his grandchildren, Madison Levesque, Hailey Levesque, and Nathan Levesque, his siblings, Nicholas Di Lernia and his wife, Dina, Alberto Di Lernia and his wife, Rosa, Frank Di Lernia and his wife, Channoun, Maria Muraca and her husband, Tony, Dan Di Lernia and his wife, Elizabeth, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his son, Jonathan Di Lernia, and his niece, Suzanne Di Lernia.
Fernando also leaves behind his Mini Schnauzer, Luna, to mourn his passing. Fernando and Luna were inseparable, and their bond was a testament to the unconditional love that pets can bring into our lives.
Embracing each day with a smile, Fernando’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His loved ones will take comfort in the memories they have shared.
