Everett Tatro Obituary

Everett E. Tatro, 88, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born on February 13, 1937, Everett was the oldest of 12 children to the late Everett and Frances (Goodrow) Tatro. He was raised in the mountains of Stamford, Vermont, on Tatro Road; a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life.  While working across the border in North Adams, MA, Everett met the love of his life, Joan (Tessier). Together, they built a marriage that spanned 68 years, filled with devotion, laughter, and the highs and lows of raising a large and loving family, many of whom were affectionately referred to “My Man or My Girl”. For nearly 50 years, they made their home in Bristol, where they became longtime members of St. Gregory the Great Parish.

Everett dedicated over four decades of his professional life to Jenson Machine Co. in Newington, where he was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in a job well done. After retirement, he continued to live with purpose and energy, finding joy in the simple things, staying connected to his Vermont roots, and fulfilling his love for the outdoors as much as possible.

An avid outdoorsman, Everett was happiest in nature; leisurely wandering around his yard and gardens, hunting with ammunition he carefully reloaded himself, or casting a line at his favorite fishing spot in People’s Forest. He was a proud member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club and found great joy in spending time there with his sons and grandsons, passing along both stories and skills.  Everett had a love for country music, riding his beloved Harley Davidson,  a good hot dog from Capital Lunch, and the occasional trip to Cabela’s. A fan of classic monster movies, he especially enjoyed anything featuring King Kong, Godzilla, or werewolves—joking often that he was “part wolf” himself. His sense of humor was ever-present, and he was well known for his signature funny faces that never failed to make his family and friends laugh.  Frugal, humble, and full of quiet wisdom, Everett lived simply but loved deeply. He created a lifetime of cherished memories that will be carried on by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan; their children, Donna Bolduc and her late husband, Mark, Virginia Janick and her husband Peter, Mary Baillargeon and her husband Norman, and James Tatro and his wife Melissa.  Joan and Everett were predeceased by their children, Brenda Youman-Glasper and William Tatro.    Everett will be missed by his grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) Youman, Derek (Christina) Glasper, Ryan Glasper, Jessica Glasper, Nicholas (Rafael) Bolduc, Daniel (Lisa) Bolduc, Liana (CJ) Chaika, Kayla Janick, Justin (Devan) Janick, Norman (Katie) Baillargeon, Jr., Leo “Bumper” (Toni) Baillargeon, Jennifer Baillargeon (Gerard Houle), James Tatro, Jr., Kevin (Kari) Tatro, Jacob (Tracie) Tatro, and Chelsea Tatro; along with 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  He also leaves his sisters, Frances Dewolfe, Loretta Maynard, Deborah Tatro, and Cheryl Dunn; his brother, Alan Tatro and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by 6 of his siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by enjoying the outdoors, planting something in your yard, making someone laugh, or having a hot dog in his name.
