Evelyn Joseph Obituary

Evelyn (Boyiatzis) Joseph, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, after an 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She faced her illness with admirable courage, strength, and optimism that inspired all who knew her.

Lynn, as she was known to many, was born on July 13, 1943, to the late Nicholas and Sophia (Tsiaparas) Boyiatzis.  A lifelong resident of Plainville, Lynn built a life rooted in family, faith, and community. She shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Gerald Joseph, for 60 years, and together they raised their two children in the town she proudly called home.

Lynn was a familiar and welcoming presence at the Plainville Senior Center and the YMCA, where, in her 60s, she learned to swim. She lived an active and spirited lifestyle, running a half marathon at the age of 70 and completing her final race, the Petit Family Foundation 5K, in her beloved hometown at the age of 80.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A longtime, dedicated member and volunteer of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society #72 and found great joy in working at the church’s annual Greek Festivals, sharing fellowship, food, and tradition with her community.

Lynn’s interests reflected her vibrant spirit. She loved reading, biking, and line dancing. She could often be found listening to Elvis Presley or watching “Jeopardy!”, enjoying both the music and the challenge of a good trivia question.

Above all, Lynn will be remembered for her boundless love for her family, her resilience, warmth and kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her legacy of faith, perseverance, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her daughter, Cynthia Riccio, her son-in-law Anthony Riccio Jr. and their children Anthony Riccio III and Nicholas Riccio; her son, Christopher J. Joseph; her close cousins Dorothy Mallis-Spanos and Stephen Polezonis; and many cherished friends.  Lynn had a special place in her heart for her four-legged granddogs, Meredith, Rocky and Copper, who brought her much joy. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Boyiatzis.

Lynn’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hartford Healthcare Oncology and Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice, for their compassionate care shown to them during her journey.
