Eric “Rick” Ostman, of Plainville, a Bristol native and US Army Veteran, passed away at the age of 77 on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven. Rick was one of three children to the late Robert and Florence (Schieding) Ostman, of Bristol. He was a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School and served in the US Army from 1969-1971. After his military service, he was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Rocky Hill until he retired. He was a die-hard fan of the NY Yankees and lived life on his own terms. He is survived by his sister, Carol Emond, of Farmington, and his brother, Jeffrey Ostman; his three nephews, Michael, Bruce and David Emond and their families. Heartfelt thanks to all those involved with providing care to Rick during his last days. He left us with this thought: Don’t cry for me; I am at peace.
