Elizabeth (Flewelling) Sheddan

Elizabeth (Flewelling) Sheddan of Plainville passed away surrounded by her beloved family on Friday, September 17, 2021, two days after her 87th birthday.  She was the wife of Robert Sheddan, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Presque Isle, ME on September 15, 1934, she was one of two children to the late Robert and Margaret (Preston) Flewelling .  It was love at first sight when she met Robert in 1955 while he was stationed at the Air Force base there. They were married six months later, and shared the next 66 years traveling throughout the U.S., raising four children to whom she was greatly devoted, and becoming proud grandparents. She leaves a legacy of love for her family and many cherished memories, and will be missed greatly.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children Michael (Bea) Sheddan of Windsor Locks,  Barbara (Cliff) Ackerson of Nyack, NY, Carol Lewis (Joe Mas) of Berlin and Diane (Ronald, Jr.)  Shoneck of Meriden; her grandchildren David (Meghan) L’Heureux, Jr, Brian (Amy) L’Heureux, Robert (Danielle) Ackerson, Elizabeth Ackerson, Ronald Shoneck, III (Emily Mohan), and Kelly Shoneck (Ben Logan); Michael Sheddan II, and four great-grandchildren, Harper, William, Cooper and Ryleigh.  She was predeceased by her brother Robert Flewelling and leaves many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.  Prayer service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 12 p.m.  Burial will be held privately with her immediate family.
