Elisa Lynn DePoyster, 55, left this life, surrounded in the love of her mother, Heidy Kaine and stepfather, James Kaine. Elisa was born on February 20, 1971 in New Britain, CT. Despite the challenges Elisa faced as a special needs individual, her life was filled with loving family and favorite friends. While family was very important to Elisa and she looked forward to all family gatherings, time spent with her devoted grandparents, John and Johanna Lanzl of Plainville (predeceased), Uncle John, Aunt Debbie, Eric and Jill meant the most to her.
She was active in Special Olympics, bike riding, swimming, casino visits, bowling, art, bingo, baseball games, UConn basketball, music, and watching her favorite TV series, Dark Shadows. At every dance, Elisa was the first on the dancefloor and the last to leave. Employed at BARC’s Hidden Café in Bristol, Elisa loved her job and used every opportunity to exercise her spunk and charming wit on staff, friends, coworkers, and especially her favorite Café manager who guided her to success every work day. A big part of Elisa’s joy came from being with her best friend and housemate, Annette. For eighteen years, they shared fun, comradery, and laughter while attending the numerous parties, picnics, sports events, movies, and field trips.
Elisa leaves behind her parents, Heidy and James Kaine of Southington, Aunts and Uncles and their families, including Debra and John Lanzl of Middlefield, Eric and Tracy Lanzl of Wallingford, Jill Marszalik of Fairfield, Greta Moore of Plainville, Herbert Dirrigl of Plainville, Sue Miller of California, Linda and Ed Martucci of Massachusetts, and Shirley Kaine of North Stonington. Special love to her Godmother, Ruth Perrotti and all our dear friends for their endless support. Thank you to the devoted managers, direct support and nursing staff who became family, most notably, Adel, Lisa, Pam, Dawn, Sam, Kris, Cheryl, Ronyea, Steph, Melissa, Debbie, and many more.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A service in celebration of Elisa’s life will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
