Edward Pyzynski Obituary

Edward “Ed” F. Pyzynski, 93, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025 at the Hospital of Central CT-New Britain General Campus. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of over 60 years, Florence A. (Shilosky) Pyzynski, who predeceased him in 2021, along with their two loving children, Jeffry Pyzynski and Kim (Pyzynski) Romano.

Ed was born on October 16, 1931 in New Britain, CT son of the late Edward F. and Estelle (Kowalczyk) Piwczynski where he spent a few years in his adolescence prior to moving to Plainville. Ed met the love of his life, Florence, and together they settled in Plainville where they raised a loving family. Ed dedicated many years of his career to the field of engineering, serving with distinction as a mechanical engineer at Howmet before retiring from the company that later acquired it. His contributions to the industry were marked by remarkable skill, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to work alongside him.

Ed was the embodiment of love and support for his family, especially his grandchildren, playing an integral role in their upbringing. His home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, where countless sleepovers were filled with joy and cherished memories. Ed had a penchant for adventure, often taking his grandchildren on excursions that brought them closer together. Whether exploring the breathtaking scenery of Mohawk Trail or marveling at the sailboats during tranquil trips to Mystic, Ed found delight in sharing these experiences with his loved ones.

Ed was especially fond of entertaining for the Holidays and simple gatherings around the dinner table, where he dazzled everyone with his culinary skills. His beef stew was a staple, a recipe that has been passed down through generations and remains a family favorite. Although his family will continue to strive for the perfection of that hearty dish, it will never quite capture the love and passion Ed brought to every meal he prepared.

Ed lived a life defined by selflessness and love. He touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Affectionately known as “Papa Comb,” Ed leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Mangiafico and her significant other, Jason Shaw, Kristine Dennis and her husband, Colin Dennis, Taylor Romano and his significant other, Julia Brazdzions, and Ashley Romano and her significant other, Kyle Marinelli; and his great-grandchildren, Roland and Lyra Dennis.

He is also survived by his brother, Richard Piwczynski and his wife, Kathy; his sister, Maryann Smith; his daughter-in-law, Susan Pyzynski; his son-in-law, Ronald Romano; his sister-in-law, Patricia Algiere; his nieces and nephews, Ruth Ann, Robert, Michael, and Keith; and several extended family members. In addition to his wife and children, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert Smith and his nephews, Craig and Marcus.

The Pyzynski family would like to thank the staff at the Hospital of Central CT for their exceptional care provided during Ed’s final days and the compassion shown to the family in their time of need.

A Graveside Service in Celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11 AM at Peacedale Cemetery, James P. Casey Road, Bristol. There are no calling hours. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville extend their gratitude to the Pyzynski family for their continued trust.
