Edward Olander Obituary

Edward Olander, 82 of Southington, was reunited with his beloved wife Geraldine (Rich) Olander, when he peacefully left this world and met his Lord and savior on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Born on April 29, 1942, he was one of three children to the late Ignatius and Mary (Adamowicz) Olander. He was raised in Plainville, where he cultivated his roots and received his education.  Edward's journey led him to St. Michaels College, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in science. He went on to establish E & G Equipment and Chemical in Southington, a business he operated diligently for many years before shifting gears to become an educator at a Catholic elementary school in Waterbury, where he shared his knowledge and values with the next generation.

Throughout his life, Edward exemplified profound spirituality and enduring faith, embodying his beliefs through daily recitations of the rosary. For over four decades, Edward dedicated his time to teaching religious education at Mary Our Queen and St. Dominic Churches, leaving an indelible impact on countless lives. His commitment to spiritual growth and service to his community served as a guiding light for those who knew him.  Fascinated by clocks, he found joy in collecting, repairing and restoring them. His interests extended to antiquing and coin collecting, hobbies he enjoyed alongside his beloved wife Geri.

Edward is survived by his son, Matthew Olander and his wife Alyona; and proudly became a grandfather three months ago to their son, Mark.  He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Monahan and his brother, Robert Olander, and leaves many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Ed may be remembered with contributions to Birthright International at http://www.birthright.org
