Diana Murphy, 64, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. Born on October 31, 1961, she was the youngest of four children of the late Roy Samuelson and Arline (Partiss) Samuelson Lucian.
Diana was raised and educated in Waterbury and was a graduate of Crosby High School. A talented and creative spirit, she expressed herself through art, especially painting, and had a gift for bringing beauty and warmth into the lives of those around her.
She will be fondly remembered as an exceptional baker, known for her savory and sweet creations including her cherished tradition of baking dozens of Christmas cookies each year; something family and friends eagerly anticipated. Diana had a special way of bringing people together; she was the heart of her family, thoughtfully creating and hosting gatherings that fostered connection and lasting memories.
Selfless and devoted, Diana lovingly raised her two nephews as her own sons, a reflection of her generosity and commitment to those she loved. She was kindhearted, made friends with ease, and extended warmth to everyone she met. Diana also had a deep love for animals, caring for them with the same compassion she showed to people.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and togetherness that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Diana is survived by her sister, Georgia Cole and her husband George; her brother, Scott Samuelson and his husband Edward Dudek; her aunt Christine Aubrie and her husband Michael; and her nieces and nephews, Paul and Luke Kilmer, Amy Cole and her husband Colin, Adam Cole and Joshua Cole. She was predeceased by her sister, Gerri Kilmer.
