Dennis J. Brown

Dennis J. Brown, 77, of Plainville, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at John Dempsey Hospital, with his daughters by his side.

Born in Bangor, ME on March 1, 1944, Dennis was one of four children and sibling to many foster children to the late Walter and Goldie (Flannery) Brown.  Raised and educated in Maine, he enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after high school, and settled in Plainville upon being honorably discharged, where he raised his two daughters and became a proud Grampie.  A man of hard work ethics, Dennis was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478, working at various companies, including Tilcon/Roncari and Bechtel Engineering.   Upon retiring, Dennis made a hobby of playing bad golf in warm places, looking forward to the 19th hole at each course.  A member of the VFW Post 574, the American Legion and the St. Joseph Polish Society, Dennis will be remembered for his pride in his country, his love for his family, the Red Sox and Patriots, his humor and never mincing his words.   He will be missed, leaving many cherished memories that will forever bring smiles to the faces of those he loved.

He leaves his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Todd Ginter of CO and Michelle and Troy Kline of CT; his grandchildren, Jaxon Kline, and Evelyn, Grayson and Benjamin Ginter; his sisters, Dollie Barkely and Beulah “Boots” Jordan; his brother, Louis Harris and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Brown, Jr.

In honor of his fellow veterans, Dennis may be remembered with contributions to the D.A.V of CT, 80 Hall Ave, Suite 801, Meriden, CT 06450.
