Debra “Debi” L. (Letourneau) Tetro, 62, lifelong resident of Plainville, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Debi was born on March 30, 1961 in New Britain, CT daughter to Norman Letourneau Jr. and the late Barbara (White) Letourneau. Debi grew up in Plainville, attended local schools and graduated from Plainville High School, where she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Gary Tetro. Debi and Gary settled in Plainville, where they raised their family and shared 42 years of love, laughter, and life adventures. Debi loved to socialize and was the proud Salon Coordinator at Attitudes/Hairsay Salon in downtown Plainville for many years. She made many everlasting impressions on colleagues and clients through the years, befriending everyone she met always with a smile and a friendly conversation.
Debi was the “Queen Bee” of her family, which was the center of her world, and being promoted to Nana was the best thing that ever happened to her, as she cherished her “monkeys” aka grandchildren more than anything. Debi had a knack for keepings things tidy and never seized to have things in an orderly manner in her home and working environment. She was an avid reader, loved to go shopping with her shopping trip partners, and enjoyed time spent relaxing at home on her deck, basking in the warmth of the sun paired with a refreshing beverage. Debi was a one-of-a-kind, genuine soul with a heart of gold. She endured life’s obstacles and challenges with grace and an optimistic approach. She will be missed dearly by her family and countless friends, as they take comfort in knowing she is at peace and surely is now dancing in the sky.
Debi’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home, Central Region Office, for their unwavering support and for the exceptional care the nurses and staff provided to Debi and her family over the past several months.
In addition to her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Gary Tetro, Debi is survived by her father, Norman Letourneau Jr.; her children, Melissa Gwizd and her husband, John, and Nicholas Tetro and his wife, Chantal; her adored grandchildren, affectionately known as her monkeys, Zachary, Tanner, Ryder, Jayden, Destiny, and Carter; her brother, Norm “David” Letourneau and his wife, Karen; her sisters, Lisa Gaber and her husband, Robert and Tina Pandolfo and her husband, Mark; her sister-in-law, Carrie DonAroma and her husband, Frank; her brothers-in-law, Keith and Scott Tetro; her nieces and nephews, Bobby, David, Jessica, Michelle, Matthew, Ryan, Christina, Jennifer, and Cody; her fury companion, Biggs, who offered her unconditional love and support; and several extended family members, along with a large circle of friends.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, January 26 from 9 to 11 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville. A prayer service with words of remembrance will be shared at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately. Debi may be remembered with contributions to the Make a Wish Connecticut at http://www.ct.wish.org or 56 Commerce Dr. Trumbull, CT 06611.
