Dane Ingvertsen Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the extraordinary life of Dane A. Ingvertsen, 67, of Avon, loving father and grandfather, who passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and support of his family, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, following an unexpected diagnosis with pancreatic cancer.

Dane was born on December 29, 1956 in Hartford, CT son to the late Arthur Gunnard “Bud” Ingvertsen and Margaret Louise (Burr) Ingvertsen Jackson. Growing up in Farmington, Dane graduated from Farmington High School before delving into the intricate world of mechanics. For over a decade, Dane proudly owned and operated Ingvertsen Automotives, formerly located on Route 4 in Farmington, where he gained a reputation as a master mechanic with an unparalleled talent for fixing anything that came his way. Dane was a master in his craft and with over a decade of service at his shop, he garnered a reputation as a Jack-of-all-trades.

Dane's expertise extended beyond the automotive realm; he was known for his unyielding determination and resourcefulness, always equipped with the right tools and knowledge to address any challenge. Dane's endless knowledge paired with his vast array of tools knew no bounds, and there was no problem too big for him to tackle. His friends, family, and former customers all knew him as the go-to person when something needed repair. His talent and dedication were unmatched, and his presence brought comfort and reliability to all who knew him.

Dane lived a life filled with dedication to public service. His passion for helping others led him to a career as a dispatcher, where he spent 25 years working for the Farmington Police Department while also providing his dispatching services to the Canton Police Department, Avon PD and Cromwell Fire Department. Even after retiring in 2019, Dane continued to serve his community by working in security and surveillance at Bozzuto's in Cheshire and as a gate attendant at Winding Trails in Farmington, where he was a longtime member. Dane's commitment to keeping others safe and his unwavering dedication to his work will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

Dane's life was marked by his passion and dedication to competitive shooting, as a proud member and supporter of IDPA and NRA. He found great fulfillment as a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newington, where he actively participated in the security team, embodying his dedication to his faith and community. Dane was constantly seeking out new experiences and talents, dabbling in any activity he set his mind to in order to master a new interest or hobby.

Known for his infectious sense of humor and selfless nature, Dane touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Affectionately referred to by his children's friends as "Daddy Dane," his warm smile and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Dane is survived by his cherished daughters, Bailey Dailey and her husband, Richard, and Spencer Ingvertsen and her fiancé, Grant Harris; his beloved grandchildren, to whom he was the proudest “Grandy,” Emerson and Lucas Dailey; his sister, Roxanne Ingvertsen and her husband, Bernard; his partner, Andrea Hart; his furry companion, Miley; and a wide circle of friends and colleagues. Dane was predeceased by his brother, Paul Ingvertsen, and his former wife and dear friend, Lynn (Fields) Ingvertsen.

A Celebration of Dane’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 296 New Britain Ave, Newington, CT 06111.
