Constance "Connie" Richardson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance “Connie” (Olmstead) Richardson, who left us on July 18, 2024, at the age of 75. She passed in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family, including her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank Richardson.

Born on August 22, 1948, in Caribou, Maine, daughter to the late Kenneth L. and Eva M. (Shorey) Olmstead Sr., Connie later moved to Connecticut where she spent her formative years, graduating from Bristol Central High School in the Class of 1966. She worked for over 25 years at Bristol Hospital, retiring after many dedicated years holding various positions within the hospital.

Connie's life was enriched by the love and companionship of her husband, Frank, with whom she shared a passion for motorcycle adventures and Sunday drives to Vermont. Together, they explored the world and created countless cherished memories. She found joy in the simple things in life, like baking her famous Christmas cookies and spending time surrounded by her loved ones.

As a dedicated lover of casino adventures, Connie would eagerly organize trips with her loved ones, often her sisters or her husband, always ready for a thrilling night of games and excitement. Her adventurous spirit and love for company made every casino visit a special occasion, creating unforgettable moments with those she held dear.

Family meant everything to Connie, and she took great pride in being the best grandmother to her grandchildren. She was known for her expressive nature and her ability to open up to those closest to her, sharing her love and laughter generously.

A true introvert in the presence of strangers, Connie found solace in the company of her family, whom she held dear. Her love for Walt Disney and her excitement for trips to Disney World were a testament to her youthful spirit and endless enthusiasm for life. Connie will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those she touched.

In addition to her husband, Frank Richardson, Connie leaves behind to mourn her loss her cherished children, Rhonda Mendela and her husband, Robert, Karen Webster and her husband, John, and Samantha Richardson; her grandchildren, Alex, Becca and Kristina Mendela, Mason Webster and his wife, Colby, Abi and Garrick Webster; her sister, Susan Palaia and her husband, Marty; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends, Patti Allaire and her husband, Dave, Cheryl Kelaita and her husband, Joe, and her special friend and caretaker, Kathy Gallo. She was predeceased by her siblings, Kenneth Olmstead Jr., Beverly Mitchell and Peggy Lockard.

Connie’s family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Connie’s home health care aid, Wendy Pelletier, and Connie’s nurse, Jenny, for the unwavering love, compassion and exceptional care they provided through Connie’s illness. The support they provided to Connie’s entire family will always be fondly remembered and appreciated.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville.
