Claudette Hanchett Obituary

Claudette Mary (Michaud) Hanchett, 73 of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday July 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.  Claudette lived a life marked by love, devotion, and quiet strength.

Born on March 12, 1953, in Hartford, she was a woman who placed family at the center of all she did and who touched the lives of those around her with her thoughtful nature and generous heart. Those who knew her will remember her as loving, selfless, and thoughtful, qualities that were evident in the way she cared for others and in the grace with which she carried herself throughout her life.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, William Hanchett, and together they built a family rooted in love and support. She was a devoted mother to Jeffrey Jalbert, Kelly Angelillo and her husband, Robert Angelillo, William Hanchett and his wife, Kendra Hanchett, and Melissa Anderson and her husband, Eugene Anderson. She was a proud grandmother to Ashley Anton, Jadyn (Anton) Marino, Isabella Anderson, David Anderson, Sierra Jalbert, Makayla Jalbert, Alexis Jalbert, Jeffrey Jalbert, and Austin Hanchett. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her beloved dog Joey, who recently passed.

She is also survived by her siblings, Lawrence Michaud and his wife Joni Michaud, Ronald Michaud and his wife, Martha Michaud, Charlene McGowan, Theresa Michaud, Denise Smith, and Paul Michaud. Claudette held a special place in her heart for her extended family and valued the bonds that connected them through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Michaud and Theresa Michaud, whose memory remained an important part of her life.

Her life was a testament to kindness and devotion. Claudette gave of herself freely and without hesitation, always ready to listen, help, and encourage, whether through her many hours of volunteer work, preparing and serving meals for local church communities, or creating something beautiful by hand. A gifted crafter with a special talent for making heartfelt greeting cards, she touched countless lives through her creativity and thoughtfulness. She also had a lifelong affection for giraffes, whose gentle grace and unique spirit brought her endless happiness and reflected the warmth and kindness she shared so freely with others.

She had a gentle spirit that brought comfort to others, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The legacy she leaves behind is one of compassion, family devotion, and enduring love.

Though her passing leaves a profound emptiness, Claudette’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and all who loved her. Her life was rich in meaning, and her influence will be felt for generations to come through the family she nurtured and the example she set. She will be remembered with love, gratitude, and great affection.

In lieu of flowers, Claudette may be remembered with contributions to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111 or http://www.cthumane.org
