Christopher Carlo Pio, born on August 16, 1970, peacefully entered the embrace of the Lord on June 7, 2023, after a brief yet fierce battle with cancer. He eagerly anticipated reuniting with his cherished father, Carlo, and his grandparents, Burton and Donna Miller and Renato and Marianna Pio, along with his beloved Uncle Tony Ceneviva and family who preceded him in death. Family and the spirit of mutual support held profound significance in his life.
As the proprietor of Auto Star in Bristol and Chris's Auto in Plainville, Chris exemplified the true essence of an entrepreneur. Starting as a youngster going to flea markets with his dad and tinkering with motors small and large, Chris built an engine himself in his basement, put it in his car, pushed it from the garage with his Mom and drove it to Central High and hi-fived when he got back. From there he took Auto Class in high school. Out of school, he followed what he wanted and repaired cars opening a little shop and growing from there. Swap meets, auctions, sell-outs, and closeouts were endeavors that he shared with his best buddy, son Nicholas and that resonated deeply with him. Chris inherited the art of negotiation from his father but elevated it to new heights. An art he happily passed down to Nick. One of his passions was acquiring and restoring muscle cars, relentlessly scouring for them, engaging in negotiations, and reviving their former glory.
Chris frequently collaborated with his brothers, Adam and Jason, fostering camaraderie, dreams, and lucrative automotive deals. They formed an unwavering "all for one & one for all" team, rejoicing in each other's triumphs.
His children, Gina Pio of Plainville, Nicholas and Fallyn Pio of Southington, held the most profound place in his heart. When not in their company, Chris took immense pride in sharing stories of their accomplishments. He wholeheartedly supported their passions, immersing himself in their interests and imparting his invaluable life lessons. The Italian heritage from his Dad fostered close family relationships which he treasured.
Chris's niece and nephew Emma & Jake (Pio) affectionately described him as kind, funny, intelligent, and generous—an expert in delivering warm hugs. His daughter, Fallyn, said Dad was always ready to join in watching cartoons, movies, and playing games, listening to her learn lines or song in plays she was in or her favorite, Dance. His children miss Dad more than anyone can ever know.
Lourdes Pio, his sister-in-law, acknowledged Chris' immense generosity and inclusivity. He effortlessly connected with individuals from all walks of life. Whether encountering someone on the periphery of a room or the outskirts of society, he would extend a helping hand, providing sustenance, employment opportunities, and business assistance. Chris seamlessly navigated exclusive clubs while forming genuine connections with everyone he encountered. His insatiable curiosity led him to invest hours in getting to know people and their stories.
Chris is survived by all those who consistently cared for him during his final months providing unwavering support and comfort. His family cannot thank you all enough.
He also leaves behind his mother, Karen Miller Pio of Florida; his brother and closest confidant, Adam Pio (Lourdes) of Farmington, who unwaveringly supported him throughout the arduous battle against cancer; and his brother, Jason Pio (Tania), of Bristol and DR, who served as his calming presence and partner in humor. Additionally, he leaves behind his Aunts who called, cooked for him, prayed and supported his fight, Rose Brophy (Peter), Carmella Ceneviva, Esterina Circosta (Tony), and Uncle Ernie (Christine) Pio.
Chris always held a special place in his heart for his caring cousins who consistently checked in on him, cooked for him, prayed and cheered him on. They include MaryAnn (Jim) Randles, Jovanna (Jay) Bailey, Janice (Jay) Gorneault, Artillio (Catherine) Ceneviva, Dr. Joseph Brophy, Dino (Cindy) Circosta, Nick Randles.
Waiting for Chris on the side of Light, Love and Prayer were his father and mentor, Carlo Pio, along with his grandparents Burton & Donna Miller and Renato & Marianna Pio, and Uncles Tony Ceneviva and Kurt Miller.
