Chantal Sheryse Baldwin, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and unwavering love for those fortunate enough to know her.
Born on November 26, 1982, daughter of the late Eric Baldwin and Janet Mack, her early years were spent in New Britain. She moved to Plainville during her middle school years, under the care of her second Mom, Dayna Snell, where she completed her education. She dedicated herself professionally as an Advanced CNA, where she was known not just for her skill, but for the genuine kindness and comfort she brought to those in her care. Chantal carried her strong sense of community and care into every chapter of her life. A longtime member of Redeemer’s AME Zion Church, Chantal gave generously of her time and spirit, serving as a leader in the children’s ministry, helping to guide and inspire young minds, and as choir director, where her love for music uplifted those around her. She was also an original member of Queen Ann Nzinga Center (known as PEP at the time) where as a leader she recruited friends, coordinated skits and choreographed dance routines.
She was also known for her unmistakable sense of style, especially her signature blue eyeliner, which became a reflection of her bold spirit. Chantal loved shopping, often taking her time browsing and enjoying the experience, much to the frustration of those who accompanied her. Chantal had a vibrant personality and a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Whether it was a simple outing or a planned trip, whale watching, or finding peace and wonder by the ocean.
Above all, Chantal will be remembered for her warmth, her spice, her humor, and her ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved. Her presence brought light into the lives of many, and her absence will be deeply felt.
In addition to her mother, Dayna, she leaves her son, to whom she was completely devoted, Jayden Mack; her brothers, Shannon Baldwin, Andre Latney and Dillyn Caruso; her nieces Tylina Jackson, McKenzie Snell and nephew Shaun Baldwin; her grandmother, Mrs. Williams, her dear friend, Ed Griffin and his son, Gable; along with her aunties, Linda Baldwin, Alison and Lisa Johnson and Donyne Cowan; her uncle Dennis Baldwin; many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Chantal may be remembered with contributions to the Queen Ann Nzinga’s Center at http://www.qanc.org
A celebration of Chantal’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp St, Bristol Family and friends may gather at the church prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Chantal’s family for their trust.
