Cecile R. (Cloutier) DiDonato, 95, of Southington, passed away on Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Southington Care Center. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 55 years, Danny P. DiDonato, who predeceased her in 2006.
Born in Hartford on July 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Jean (Levesque) Cloutier, and has been a resident of Southington since 1976.
Cecile leaves behind her only son, Gregory DiDonato, and his wife, Susan (Schunk) DiDonato of Bristol, her grandson Bryan DiDonato and his wife Chelsea (Pepe) DiDonato of Southington, and of course, her "great grand-dog" Cooper. She is also survived by her four sisters, Lorraine DeGostin of Farmington; Irene Dagneau of Cromwell; Doris Brown of Laguna Niguel, CA; and Bea Puchalski of West Hartford; and a sister-in-law, Carol Cloutier, Hebron. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Joseph "Yogi" DiDonato of Hartford and John DiDonato and his wife sister-in-law Pat of Manchester, along with many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. She was predeceased by her siblings, Norman Cloutier and Claire Ennis.
Some of her joys with being raised in "The Silent Generation" were growing up in Hartford and meeting her future husband roller skating, working at the Travelers Insurance Co., as well as Macca Plumbing, spending early vacations at the cottage in Old Saybrook and doing plenty of vacationing and camping. While in Southington meeting her future daughter-in-law, she was involved in Jensen's Mobile Home senior activities, including bingo, and had fun in retirement life fulfilling her days with gardening, cooking, and baking. She adored all the animals over the years, which include two parakeets named Frisky and her dogs Queenie and Princess.
She was a devout Christian, mother, grandmother, and a dedicated military wife. Her favorite TV shows, The Bachelor, Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, kept her plenty busy until it was time for an early bed. A sports enthusiast, The Yankees were her team! She loved Derek Jeter and, quite frankly, was able to see him in every game he ever played. She also couldn't wait until the UConn Woman's season started and loved following the games and championships. She was "all in" for the Northern Little League White Sox in Southington where her son managed, and was a constant spectator at baseball, soccer, football, and basketball in Bristol where her grandson played. She loved her family and friends dearly, and will be remembered for her smile, her good nature, and low-key attitude.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff and nurses at Southington Care Center for the expert care shown to Cecile.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southington Northern Baseball League (SNBL) with a memo to "Alan S Bator Scholarship," PO Box 125, Southington, CT 06489.
