Catherine H. (Barry) Mazurick, of Plainville, formerly of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on April 7, 1929, in Grand Gorge, NY, Catherine grew up on her family’s dairy farm as one of 14 children to the late Arthur J. and Rose May (Jump) Barry. Her journey took her to New Britain after the Great Depression, where she blossomed into a vibrant community member.
A proud graduate of New Britain High School, Catherine not only excelled in her studies but also shined on the basketball court, earning the role of team captain. In 1950, she married her neighborhood sweetheart, Leo Mazurick, and together they embarked on a fabulous 62-year adventure, raising two sons and forging a legacy of love.
Catherine's passion for hard work was evident in her 30-plus years at Wasley Products, where she became their first female foreman—a trailblazer who inspired many. Her heart and spirit remained anchored in her faith as a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in New Britain, where she made countless young hearts shine as a beloved Sunday School teacher.
A true lover of life, Catherine had a special fondness for duckpin bowling, proudly competing with her friends in the Gad's Gals league. Known for her infectious sense of humor, she had a treasure trove of comical poetry at her fingertips, reciting them often and bringing a smile to the faces of others. Her hard work ethic, warm spirit, and love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Catherine is survived by her son, Milo Mazurick and his partner Stephanie Morrison; her granddaughter, Sara Ingham and her husband Staff Sergeant Guy Ingham; grandson Andrew Mazurick and four great-grandsons, Nathan, Evan, Aiden and Nolan Ingham. She also leaves her sisters, Edna Mailhot and Judy Mihalak; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Leo, she was predeceased by her son Michael, and her eleven siblings.
Honoring Catherine’s wishes, her life will be celebrated with private funeral services. She will be laid to rest with Leo at West Cemetery, Plainville. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit http://www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
