Carter V. Casida Jr. "Corky"

Carter V. Casida Jr. “Corky” 80 of Plainville passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was the loving husband to Jacqueline R. (Smith) Casida.
Corky was born on June 22, 1941 in Hartford son to the late Carter V. Casida Sr. and Olga (Lipinski) Casida. He was well-known in Plainville, having worked over fifty years as an electrician for Ferguson Electric as one of the original six. Corky was an easy going, well-liked, respected man who was devoted to his family, especially his wife as he was her biggest advocate and supporter. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, ice fishing and clamming. In addition, Corky was an avid bowler. He was a faithful Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville for several years. Corky will be missed for his easy-going, friendly nature as his family and friends cherish the memories they have shared with him over the years.
In addition to his wife, Jacqueline, he is survived by his son Keith Casida and his wife Nancy; his daughter Kimberly Ferro; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and Samuel Dorio; his sister-in-law Linda Riera; and his grandchildren James V. Ferro III, Brittany Ferro, Kylie Casida, Brooke Casida, and Cara Casida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he adored. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Casida Akatyzewski. 
Funeral services in celebration of Corky’s life will begin on Friday, October 8 at 9 AM from Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street, Plainville. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Corky can be made to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, 54 S.
