Carolyn L. (Pacyna) Colao, a beloved educator and cherished mother, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 77. She is now reunited with her husband of 52 years, Frank, who predeceased in 2023.
Born on January 26, 1948, she was one of two daughters to the late Casimer and Grace (Remuth) Pacyna, and was raised and educated in New Britain, with a profound love for learning that guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Mary Immaculate Academy and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Cardinal Cushing College in Boston. Carolyn was a beacon of kindness and creativity who devoted her life to nurturing young minds and fostering friendships. Her teaching career began at Our Lady of Mercy School, where she built lifelong friendships and formed the tight-knit group affectionately known as the "breakfast club." Carolyn then went on to serve the City of New Britain in the Revenue Collector's office for 18 years prior to her retirement.
Artistically talented, she expressed her creativity through various crafts and seasonal decorations. Her home was a canvas of joy, inside and out, especially adorned with spectacular outdoor Christmas lights that brought warmth to the neighborhood during the holidays. A passionate reader and an adventurous traveler, Carolyn loved exploring the world with her family and friends, creating priceless memories. She will be missed dearly and her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Allen and her husband Aaron; her son Todd Colao and his wife Melissa; and her adored grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah Colao and Ava Allen. She also leaves her sister Beverly Chambrello and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Carolyn's life on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
