Bryan Norman Was, 69, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in South Carolina, where he had most recently been residing with his wife, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Britain, CT, he was the son of Jean B. Was and the late Norman D. Was.
Bryan worked as an electrician and was skilled in home remodeling. He had a deep love for sports cars and football, faithfully cheering on the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, especially admiring Dan Marino and Tom Brady. Bryan treasured time spent with family playing cards and board games, enjoyed visits to the casinos, and took great pride in creating firework displays for friends and loved ones. Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Bryan could light up any room with laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bryan is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine M. Was; his daughters, Carrie Aradhye and her husband, Yogiraj, and Michelle Was; his stepdaughter, Krystal Polito and her husband, Jeremy; his mother, Jean Was; his cherished grandchildren, David Was, Wil Riccitelli, Shawn Mills, Adriana Mills, and Aria Aradhye; his sisters, Lois Terzak and her husband, John, and Carol Belanger and her husband, Kenneth; his niece, Katie Saulnier; his nephew, Steven Belanger; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Stacey Mills, and his grandson, Bryan S. Was.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville.
