Brian Edward McCarthy, 69 of Plainville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 20, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Maryann (Boscarino) McCarthy for more than 40 years.
Born on March 10, 1954, he was one of four children to the late Robert and Catherine (O’Sullivan) McCarthy. Brian was raised and educated in New Britain, having recently celebrated his 50th reunion with his fellow classmates from E.C. Goodwin Technical Institute. He had a strong work ethic that guided him throughout his career of over 40 years at Corbin Russwin, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company. He fully embraced retirement, enjoying the simple pleasures that brought him much joy; fulfilling his love for golf, dinner and movie dates, and, being a loyal sports fan, cheering on his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and UCONN Huskies. Beyond his hobbies, Brian found joy in the everyday moments spent with his family, and he beamed with pride when supporting his sons in their sporting endeavors and later as they took on coaching duties. Brian will always be remembered as a true family man with a gentle and calm spirit. His love for his wife was unwavering, and his presence, support and wisdom as a Dad served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
In addition to his wife Maryann, he leaves his sons, Brian R. McCarthy and Michael McCarthy; his brothers, Robert McCarthy and his wife Amy and Mark McCarthy and his wife Marybeth; his sister, Karen Durbis; and his two nieces, Amanda and Samantha and their families.
The family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses of the ICU at Midstate Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion for Brian.
