Betty Karwowski, 94 of Plainville, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024.
She was born on April 7, 1929, one of three children to the late Alexander and Kathryn (Saman) Popko. Betty's journey began in Bristol, where she received her education and in 1960, she made a beautiful house in Plainville and dedicated herself to raising her family within a loving neighborhood. Betty had a tremendous love for her community, and her warm spirit and generous nature were renowned among her neighbors. During her career, Betty worked for General Electric before taking time to raise her children and perfecting her sewing and knitting skills. Later, she returned to the workforce and contributed her skills to H & H Electric and Bulbs Only. Betty had a strong spiritual life and was an active member of the Church of Our Saviour Episcopal Church for many years. She served on the Vestry, Altar Guild, and Daughters of the King, fully embracing her commitment to her faith. Currently, Betty was a cherished member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Bristol, where she continued to find inspiration and solace. Those who had the privilege of knowing Betty fondly remember her sharp mind, sassy spirit, and quick wit. She approached life with a zest that left a lasting impression of joy and laughter wherever she went.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Karwowski of Plainville; and her nieces and nephews, Kim and Kurt Dossin and Beth and Nancy Popko along with their families. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sally Karwowski, formerly of Washington, DC; her brother George Popko and her sister Bobbie (Popko) Dossin.
