Barbara Newton Obituary

Barbara Jane (Sinkiewicz) Newton, 86 of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Barbara’s life was a testament to quiet strength, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Born on February 26, 1939, she was one of five children to the late Anthony and Martina (King) Sinkiewicz. She was raised and educated in New Britain, where she met the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, William A. Newton, Sr. Together, they shared more than fifty beautiful years of marriage—a loyal partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and a deep affection that never faded. Their shared love for gardening brought beauty to their home. Their many joyful years as snowbirds in Myrtle Beach created memories, which they treasured.

Barbara devoted her life to raising her four children, pouring her heart into creating a home filled with love, security, and encouragement. She had a special gift for celebrating the simple wonders of the world around her—from the birds that visited her backyard, to the flowers and gardens she lovingly tended. Creativity flowed naturally for her, both through the years she spent working at the family ceramic studio, and as a talented knitter and crocheter, she blessed her family with handmade blankets, scarves, and keepsakes; all treasured items that will continue to bring them peace. Above all else, Barbara loved her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their many four-legged family members brought her constant delight. Her kindness, patience, and affection and sense of humor were felt by all who knew her, and her presence made every gathering brighter. She will be profoundly missed, yet forever remembered with warmth and gratitude.

She is survived by her eldest daughter, Kim (Newton) Daley; her son, Michael Newton and his wife Gail; her daughter, Lisa Newton and her husband Duane Martin; her daughter-in-law Carolyn Newton; and her pride and joy, eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Kevin Sinkiewicz and his wife Judy, who she considered her best friends, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William A. Newton, Jr; her son -in-law Matthew Daley; one brother and two sisters.

Family and friends may gather on Monday December 15, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St. Plainville. Prayers and words of remembrance will she shared at 7 p.m. She will be laid to rest privately at West Cemetery, Plainville.
