Astolfo Scardacchi

Astolfo Scardacchi, 96 of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023.  He was the husband of Eva (Bocarossa) Scardacchi, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.

Born in Fossomebrone, Italy on April 6, 1926, he was one of two children to the late Adelino and Celestina (Capra) Scardacchi.  A sharpshooter amongst the elite group of Bersaglieri in the Royal Italian Army, Astolfo proudly served his country during W.W. II.  Upon settling in the United States, he remained proud of his Italian heritage as a longtime member of the Marchegian Society, and retired from Stanley Works after 32 dedicated years of employment.  A longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Astolfo was known for his love for cooking, and delighted in hosting friends and family for Sunday dinners and holidays.  He fulfilled his passion for the outdoors in his retirement years going hunting and fishing and enjoying nature’s serenity.  He leaves a legacy of love for his family, traditions and Italian pride and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his wife Eva, he leaves his devoted son, Ronald Scardacchi of Plainville.  He was predeceased by his brother Oliviero Scardacchi, and leaves his nephew Lucio and niece Bruna.

A special thank you to the nurses and aides on the 5th floor, Tower C at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, for the comfort and care provided to Astolfo during his final days.
