Arnold F. Andre, 81, of Plainville, formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at UCONN in Farmington. He was the devoted husband of Sandra (Sandy) Andre for 24 years.
Arnold was born on November 2, 1942 in Brockton, Massachusetts son to the late John and Helena (Hannant) Andre. Following high school graduation, Arnold enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after proudly serving our country. Using his talented handy man skills along with his extensive knowledge in mechanical operations, Arnold worked for Foxboro Company retiring after 34 years. He was able to deconstruct, fix, and reconstruct just about anything he set his determined mind to and there was not a problem he couldn’t resolve.
Arnold enjoyed spending time outdoors and spent many hours birdwatching, gardening and fishing. He truly enjoyed cooking, especially a lobster boil. He also loved to go on driving adventures and spend quality time relaxing by the water. With a keen eye for historical artifacts, he would spend hours exploring antique shops, unearthing hidden treasures that spoke to him in profound ways. He could often be seen with his antiques at Collinsville Antiques. His collection served as a testament to his appreciation for the past and his ability to find beauty in the most unexpected places. Arnold’s legacy of hard-work, determination and devotion to his family will fondly be remembered and cherished.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, Arnold is survived by his sons, Ron Andre and his wife, Tina, Jeff Andre and his wife, Stacy, William Clark and his wife, Jill, and Brian Clark; his grandchildren, Thomas Andre, John Andre, Drew Andre, Clara Andre, Calvin Andre, Victoria Clark, Hunter Best, Sophia Clark and Viviana Clark; and lastly, his loveable, energetic Bernedoodle, Brody. He was predeceased by his first wife of 24 years, Shirley Andre.
Services in celebration of Arnold’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Arnold can be made to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, 320 W Ohio St., Suite 300, Chicago, IL 60654 (stopsarcoidosis.org).
