Anna J. LaVallee, 84, loving mother and grandmother, of Plainville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 21 years, the late Joel LaVallee.
Anna was born on April 7, 1940 at her home in New Britain, CT daughter to the late Vincent and Mary (Zaleski) Hojnowski. Anna dedicated her life to her family, creating a warm and loving home filled with unforgettable memories. In 1981, alongside her husband, Joel, Anna contributed to the success of their family bakery, Daily Donuts, a cornerstone of the Plainville community for many years. Shortly after the opening of the bakery, Anna’s husband passed and she continued to own and operate the bakery for 10 years. Anna worked tirelessly to support her family and held various positions in grocery stores over the years, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment to her loved ones.
For over 20 years, Anna found joy and solace in the sun-soaked shores of Pompano Beach, FL, a means of escaping the cold New England winter months. She was a naturally artistic soul whose talent for painting and crafting brought beauty to the lives of many. In addition, she found fulfillment in nurturing her outside garden beds, where her creativity blossomed alongside the vibrant flowers she lovingly tended. She lived a life marked by resilience and independence, embodying a spirit that inspired everyone around her.
Anna’s family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Lake Healthcare of New Britain for their care and compassion during her last days.
Anna is survived by her longtime partner and companion, Manuel Saxon; her daughters, Jody Nadeau and her husband, Martin, of Unionville, Nancy Smith and her husband, Harry Smith, of Wilmington, NC, and Tracy LaVallee, of New Britain; her grandchildren, Carly, Samantha, Amanda, Tanya, Mary, and Paul; her great-grandchildren, Carson, Raegan, Josephine, Anastasia, Charlotte, Maggie, Scarlett, and Ozzy; her brother, Edward Hojnowski and his wife, Claudia; her sister, Elizabeth Myszka and her husband, Robert; and her niece and several nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Christine Jehnings.
A graveside service in celebration of Anna’s life will be held at West Cemetery, Plainville in the spring.
