Anna (Centurelli) Fangiullo, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday December 19, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 67 years, Paul G. Fangiullo, and her cherished daughter, Paula.
Born on August 19, 1930, Anna was the youngest of eight children of the late Vito and Margherita (Pessina) Centurelli. She was raised and educated in Berlin, where she proudly cheered for Berlin High School, a role that reflected her lifelong school spirit and love for community. Anna began her working years at Sherri Cup Co., where fate introduced her to the love of her life, Paul. They were married in 1953 and settled in Plainville, where together they built a home filled with love, faith, and laughter, raising their five children. A devout Catholic, Anna was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and an active member of the Catholic Daughters. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She later retired from Plainville Community Schools after many years of dedicated service. Affectionately known as “Saint Anne,” she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who made sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was famous for her apple pie—an eagerly anticipated tradition—and admired for her beautiful needlework. The lone Boston Red Sox fan in her family, Anna remained loyal through every season. In her 90s, she delighted family and friends with a sharp wit that emerged with perfect timing and humor. Anna’s life was one of quiet strength, deep devotion, and endless love for her family. She will be remembered for her generosity, her faith, her warmth, and the countless memories she created around her table and in her home. Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know and love her.
She is survived by her sons, Michael, Mark and his wife Lynn, and Thomas and his wife Katie; her daughter Candice Gelpke and her husband David; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her seven siblings, Joe, Chick, Louie, Josie, Frances, Mary and Rena.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Mulberry Gardens for their loving care and support.
In lieu of flowers, Anna may be remembered with contributions to PARC 28 E. Maple St, Plainville or at www.parcdisabilitiesct.org
