Amy Sisson Obituary

Amy Sisson, 34, of Farmington, Connecticut, passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones, their laughter, and endless Amy stories.

Amy was born on August 11, 1991, and grew up in Plainville, where she graduated from Plainville High School in 2009. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and was actively pursuing her master’s degree in counseling there at the time of her passing. Having experienced firsthand the power of support during her own life, Amy was driven to become a counselor so she could offer that same lifeline to others.

Amy loved to dance. She had an eye for fashion, a love of shoes, purses, perfume, and the perfect Goodwill find. She was a beautiful writer, a woman with the gift of the gab, and had an infectious laugh that could fill any room. She made people feel seen and never judged. Radiant and funny, with a lightness that drew others in, she collected friends wherever she went. She had the rare quality of making every person she met feel like they’d known her forever.

In 2023, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her battle was intense, yet she faced it with extraordinary courage, continuing her education, loving fiercely, and never losing herself in the fight. Throughout her journey, Amy became an advocate for patients, particularly for young people navigating a diagnosis like her own.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Mead; her beloved niece, Addison Woo; her sisters, Katie Sisson (Jordan Mitchell) and Liz Sisson (Claire Woo); her many aunts, uncles, and cousins; her former students and coworkers; and a wide circle of incredible friends, including her three closest friends from childhood: Kathryn, Becca, and Megan.

She was predeceased by her father, Donald Sisson; her grandmother, Lorraine Sisson; her aunt, Gail M. Young; and her uncle, Jimmy Mead.

Amy will be immeasurably missed by so many. In honor of Amy, her family hopes others live life as fully and joyfully as she did, and prioritize regular screenings and early detection for breast cancer.

All those who loved Amy may gather on Sunday, June 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home at 81 Broad St in Plainville. Words of remembrance will be shared at 5 p.m. Amy may be honored with donations to the Prudence Crandall Center in New Britain or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
