Allan Vincent Raynis, Sr. passed away July 24, 2021 at the age of 74. He was the son of Vincent and Helen Raynis of Queens, New York, and the beloved husband of 25 years to Linda (Webb-McCarthy) Raynis.
Allan graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, NY. He first came to Connecticut to work as a machinist for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, prior to becoming a police officer for the City of New Britain. He served the community of New Britain in many capacities over his 43 year tenure, for which he earned many certificates, awards and citations; and was proud to say that he never had to use his gun to resolve matters, just his kindhearted personality and years of experience. He retired as a Sergeant in 2014 leaving a positive impact on the many lives he touched.
In addition to his loving wife of 25 years, Linda (Webb-McCarthy) Raynis, of Plainville and her two children, Ryan K. McCarthy, of RI and Kellie M. McCarthy, of Plainville, Allan is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Raynis) Nesta and her husband, Kevin, of Berlin; his son, Allan Vincent Raynis, Jr. (Ret. NBPD) and his wife, Caroline, of Wallingford; and Kevin Slisz and his wife, Meredith, of New Britain. Allan also leaves behind his many grandchildren that adored him: Thomas, Tia and Jayna McCarthy, Ryder McCarthy, Abigail and Nathan Raynis, Lila Mae Yerman, Lara Mae Raynis, Allan Vincent Raynis III; Kevin Slisz, Jr. and Maya Slisz. Allan was predeceased by his brother, William Raynis, of Queens and is survived by his sister, whom he adored, Dorothy Gotard, of Queens. Allan also had many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
