Albert M. Valeri, 79 of Plainville, left this world on February 2, 2025, with his beloved family by his side. The husband of Linda (Kumm) Valeri for over 57 years, Al spent his life embracing his Italian heritage and cherishing what mattered most: family, food, and laughter.
Al was born on May 1, 1945, one of two sons to the late Alipio and Santina (Bradanini) Valeri. Raised and educated in New Britain, he was a graduate of Pulaski High School and proudly dedicated an impressive 47 years of his life to Stop and Shop, becoming a familiar and friendly face throughout various locations across the state. His love for food never faded. In retirement, he was somewhat of a legend at all local grocery stores where he made daily visits, and happily volunteered his time at the Plainville Community Food Pantry, always quick to share a joke or a smile. Following a laryngectomy over 20 years ago, Al became an advocate on the effects of tobacco use, sharing his journey openly with others. A devoted member, volunteer, and former Deacon at the Congregational Church of Plainville, his selflessness and generosity knew no bounds. Al and Linda spent countless happy years traveling with friends, who he regarded as family, creating unforgettable memories along the way, and enjoyed years of wintering in Florida. Remembered fondly as the glue that held his family together, his love, laughter and vibrant spirit will be live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Linda, he leaves his son, Patrick and his daughter, Laura; his grandchildren, Julie, Nick, Samantha and Jayden; his great-grandson Braiden, and great-grandchild on the way; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Aldo.
In lieu of flowers, Al may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 133 Plainville, CT 06062 or http://www.plainvillefoodpantry.org or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org
Family and friends may gather on Monday February 10, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. A celebration of Al’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Plainville, 130 W. Main St, Plainville. A reception will follow where all are encouraged to come and share stories, laughter and love, in true Al fashion. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
