Alan George Beckley, 79, of Southington, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, December 17, 2022. He was the husband of Linda (Wischenbart) Beckley, with whom he shared 53 years of love and laughter.
Born in Bridgeport on November 19, 1943, he was the only child of the late George and Elsie (Kleinschmidt) Beckley. Raised and educated in Berlin, Alan was a 1962 graduate of Berlin High School, and enlisted in the Army National Guard the following year, proudly serving his country for 6 years. He and Linda settled in Southington where they raised their three daughters and became proud grandparents. Alan fulfilled his love for the outdoors working at both Shuttle Meadow Country Club, and Timberlin Golf Course, from where he retired as their foreman after 40 years of hard work and dedication. Additionally he enjoyed camping, boating at his cottage in East Hampton, and had a special place in his heart for Eagle Lake, Maine where he shared countless vacations with his family. At home, he had a passion for maintaining and beautifying his yard with planting flowering shrubs and mowing his lawn…despite being told to take it easy! Remembered for his hard work ethics, his love for Elvis, old westerns, and UCONN basketball, Alan’s greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, most especially his grandchildren, all who will miss him dearly and have many cherished memories.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he leaves his daughters Dawn Beckley, her husband Peter Stumpf, Heidi Beckley, her partner Jay Harris and Holly Burgio and her husband Paolo; and his 3 grandchildren, Justin Beckley, Rachel Stumpf and Marissa Stumpf. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, Alan may be remembered with contributions to Hartford HealthCare Hospice at Home, 81 Meriden Ave, Southington, CT 06489 or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org
