Sandra Jane (Greger) Sargeant, 70, of Plainville, was taken into God’s hands after a hard fought, brief battle with leukemia, on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was the beloved wife, best friend and childhood sweetheart of Richard Sargeant, with whom she shared 53 years of undeniable love and life adventures.
Born in Southington on July 31, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Shirley (Robillard) Greger. She attended local schools, settling in Plainville shortly after her marriage to Richard, where they raised their family. In her earlier years, Sandra was the head chef for the Plainville School System, then focused her energy on raising her children and becoming a proud Nonna to 5 gorgeous grandchildren. Sandra lived her life with an open mind, optimism and an infectious sense of humor, always welcoming family and friends into her home for a delicious meal and good laugh. The matriarch of her family, she will be remembered most for the love and admiration she had for each of them, including her animals. She will be missed beyond measure, leaving many cherished memories.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she leaves her daughter and son-law, Tammy and Jim Fitzgerald and their children, Amanda and Joseph; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jacqui Sargeant and their children, Ricky, Lexi, and Zachary; her siblings, Tony Yitchinsky, Stanley Greger, Marie Greger-Moser, and Eugene Greger, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Sandra’s love for animals may be remembered with contributions to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
Honoring Sandra’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. Plainville Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
