Maria Dolores (Vazquez) Forcella, 82, formerly of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Livewell in Plantsville. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 45 years, Ermanno, who predeceased her in 2003.
Born in Puerto Rico on August 15, 1936, she was one of 8 children to the late Juan and Felicita (Lopez) Vazquez. She and Ermanno settled in Plainville where they raised their family and were longtime members of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Maria worked for General Electric for over 25 years, and fully enjoyed her retirement years caring for her grandchildren. A devoted mother and grandmother, she is now at peace, leaving a legacy of hard work and love for her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Francine Forcella; her daughter and son-in-law, Susanna and Harold Hernandez; her grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Forcella and Melissa and Jessica Hernandez; and her great granddaughter, Gabriella Forcella. She also leaves her brothers and sisters and their families, Samuel, Frank, Angelo, and Philip Vazquez, Anna Mari, and Elba Del Rio; her half-sister, Gertudis Vazquez; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandsons, Philip and Nicholas Forcella and her sister, Luisa Torres.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Maria’s life will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Committal services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may gather before the mass on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
